Red & White Gala
in Support of Sickle Cell Disease
Sickle cell disease is a hereditary, life-threatening disease that affects the normal production and ability of the red blood cells to carry oxygen to parts of the body, therefore creating excrutiating pain coupled with joint and organ swelling. Sickle cell disease causes many complications due to lower levels of oxygen in the red blood cells. The red blood cells that are normally round in appearance, are "sickle" shaped in patients with the disease, and resemble a half-moon and the garden tool called the sickle, for which the disease is named.
Join us as we raise funds for children and their families living with the disease and celebrate the resiliency, hope and courage of individuals living with this incurable disease.
